With FIBO, a colorful and expressive work, Hans Dehlinger explores the medium of longform generative art for the first time. The work is in two different ways based on the Fibonacci sequence - both the grid and the number of strokes in each generated event follow this sequence. The underlying assumption is that there is an inherent beauty in mathematical concepts that can translate into aesthetic qualities through visualisation. This idea has fascinated Hans Dehlinger from the very beginning of his artistic expression. FIBO draws the viewer in like waves on a beach. The aesthetic events build, then disappear without a trace back into the vast ocean of code. Then a new event starts building based on randomly selected numbers of the Fibonacci sequence. The work is part of the group exhibition THE PATH TO THE PRESENT, 1954–2024 at EXPANDED ART GALLERY, Berlin.
