"We are Lived by Powers we Pretend to Understand" is a series of digital collectibles where the concrete source for the works are my own oil paintings inspired by aesthetics from different eras and cultures. The series draws on ideas from the 1970s and 1990s, where tools of technology were limited and founded in manual practices.
For me, coming of age in this era when postmodernism was born and views to the past, as well as into the future were linked through visual aesthetics, played a huge role in the forming of my practice as a painter. In the 1990s, pattern textures were sourced from photos of real surfaces, lighting was added in a surreal manner and all kinds of blended psychedelic styles operated freely within the new media.
In short; these works derive from many different places, ideas and imagery solutions.
